"The Weekend at Bernie's cover and '80s instrumentation suggest that Caribbean Sunset is a pop album, but this impulse is undermined at every turn by the messy performances and dreadful, non-existant production. Apparently all of these songs were recorded in one take - on "Experiment Number 1" Cale actually shouts out the chords as the band scrambles with the changes - and the music suffers as a result. Cale's passionate vocals are intense and often erratic, but the songs themselves are so weak that his fervor seems strange and misplaced."

"Best Cale "covert" album. Although the sound is very...specific, there are great tunes as "Model beirut recital", "Magazines", "Hungry For Love" and wonderful title track. Really great!!!"

"This may be John Cale's worst album. Very cheesy songs with no vision (a first for him). Skip this one."

it is not my review ,but it means- i think -theres a resemblence between the movie and John Cale as he lying on the sands on the beach and seems happy with his easy-life.And even the title: Caribbean sunsets suggest this is an easy listening LP. So due these reasons think many people this is a happy pop album:)
But if you listen it you will recognise its not a pop album.
So John Cale's band doesent play for this movie.

See these photos for the movie and compare to the cover of Joh Cale's album:

Been after this one for ages! Even if it's not one of Cale's best, I love the title track but have never heard the rest.

Many thanks for sharing.
